View Full Version : Moving Documents Folder

I like to keep my documents and mp3's and stuff on a different partition,
just in case. Is there any way to move the "Settings and Documents" folder
(I think that is what it is called) to a different logical drive? I tried
just moving it and it said it was a system folder and couldn't be moved.
Thanks.

Hi Nanette,
Why not just create a new place for your music. For instance D:\Music
Than move the music files there and tell WMP or whatever program you use,
where they are. Works for me.

You cannot move the Documents and Settings folder, but you can move the My
Documents folder which is the default folder where all of these files are
saved. Easiest way is to use the free TweakUI utility from Microsoft. Once
it is installed, go to the My Computer/Special Folders section and click on
My Documents/Change Location button.
