dvd decoder

[roger h]

i purchased my pc(windows xp home edition)fujitsu
siemens,about 18 months ago,i recently for the first time
put a dvd in the dvd/rom,but a message appears saying no
dvd decoder installed,it says dvd and rom on the player
on the tower-friends say it should have one installed,any
comments appreciated,roger h.

Usually DVD-player software ships with a DVD drive. These programs are
commonly provided with new display cards as well. The OEM supplied
DVD-player should include the needed codecs. If you cannot find a means to
install this from your original installation media, suggest contacting the
computer manufacturer. Their online support area may give details on where
the codecs for the supplied drive are at and how to install them, too.
