I have been skimming the posts trying to find info on how
to allow MSN 6.0 access through the personal firewall but
haven't been successful in finding one. I know the issue
of voice communications has been raised but I still cannot
initiate or receive a voice conversation (or video
conference) when NIS is enabled. When I disable NIS, I
have no problem with this feature. Symantec has exhausted
its options with me and recommended I find out what ports
(local and/or remote) I am supposed to have open to allow
the voice protocol to pass through the firewall by
contacting MSN.
That being said- I have been able to ONCE receive a video
conference and I have no idea why it only was ONCE and
only with one contact. Other contacts are in the same
boat- running XP, NIS 2003 and cannot connect voice...
I tried to disable the QoS but it won't let me- I get an
error message saying I have to disconnect all dialup, VPN
or other connections. I will try again when I am offline.
Thank you in advance.
Michelle
