virus and I can not seem to get rid of it all. I ...starting from the
beginning is the only way I know how. NOW, my question is..........she was
the original (first) computer to have XP for home installed.........then
when I installed it on mine, I had to call the "800" number and get another
key. Will I have to call and get another key for the new install on her
computer or will it except the original key?
Also .....does any one have any input as to how many times Home XP can be
installed?

Thanks

The original key will work fine.

You can reinstall an unlimited number of times.

Thank You
But just for clarity.........when I go to install again (God forbid) if I
would HAVE to, I probably will have to call again for another key#. Because
they told me I didn't have to write it down as they rattled it off quit
quickly

As many times as you want on one computer. Type WINVER in the RUN box to
access EULA. The limitations are stated in the license agreement and on the
outside of the retail box.
From your reply to Walter, what you received when you called was an
activation code, not a license key.

As Michael said, it sounds like they had you enter an activation code, not a
product key. The only time you have to call for that is if the online
activation fails. Generally on a reinstall, there is no problem with
activation.

This is not the appropriate response to a virus. Why not look into
the virus at www.sarc.com and learn how to remove it?

Actually this is not true according to Microsoft. The key included on
the CD can be used multiple times, however the key given during a
phone in registration is valid for a single day only.
