My laptop just has USB ports but peripheral devices I
have are 9 pin serial ports - I purchased a USB to serial
converter but the drivers that came with it didnot
include Windows XP drivers - the Windows 2000 drivers
load via the Hardware wizard but Windows XP says it
cannot then find the hardware.

There are no updated drivers on the product website
(Prolifics RS232 USB to serial converter) and I am being
unsuccessful looking on the microsaft site - any cluies
please?

It's a Serial to USB convertor, not a USB to Serial convertor

If the 2000 drivers don't work and the manufacturer didn't write drivers for
XP, you're probably out of luck. Look for a brand that has XP drivers. Check
Belkin. They probably have what you need.
