View Full Version : reinstalling windows xp

April 20th 03, 10:00 PM
hello all!
here's what i have
-Dell Dimension 8250
-3.05 Ghz
-215 MB pc1066 RDRAM
-Radeon 97 Pro w/ tv out vid card
-Soundblaster Audigy MP3 audio card
-100g hd (partitioned)

My prob is this
I can't seem to be to reinstall Windows XP like I was
able to with Windows ME on the older comp. Reinstalling
the OS on older system was a cinch, since it scrubbed the
hd first then did the reinstallation. But not with this
comp.

Am I missing anything?
thanks!

Greetings --

Since you haven't told us what kind of problem(s) you're
encountering, there's very little we can do to help. Help us help

The installation process itself is quite simple, if somewhat
time-consuming. Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll
be offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

thanks for the link to smart questions ;OP..point taken!
the prob i'm encountering is that the set up is asking me
if I'm sure i want to install the same OS on the same
partition and that if I do,i'd probably eno****er
problems. That happens early on. At THAT point of the
setup because I don't want to duplicate the OS, I want
the setup to clean that partition and install WinXP.
Sorry about the vagueness of first question.

At that point, select "Yes" to install onto the same partition. A
bit later on, you should be given the option to format the partition.
