I have a question about the restore feature with Windows XP. Since I've
installed the microsoft updates I noticed that my computer is very sluggish
when opening programs. Is it possible for me to restore my computer back
to the way in was the day Dell shipped it to me which was back in January.
Would I have to reinstall drivers and everything else? This is all new
to me so any help is appreciated. Frankly, I don't even know where the
restore feature is located. Thanks.

Try Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools, I think you will find it
there.
Just click it and then select a date and then OK and let it happen.

Karen,
No, don't roll back. There was a 'bad' critical update released on Thursday
which does exactly that.

Just go to add/remove programs and uninstall Q800493 (& don't re-download it
until MS fixes the problem with it).
It's not that critical a one anyway.

Try going back to a RESTORE POINT.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

When the Critical Update installed it should have created a Restore Point to
undo the install.

If you don't have this running then you may be stuck...

I had no problem.

Try it in Safemode first.

If that doesn't work, go to Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View & change
Hidden Folders from Do not show to Show.
Then open the Windows folder and all your Qxxxxxx entries should be right at
the beginning. Q811493 contains a subfolder "spuninst", try running the
spuninst.application (Windows Service Pack uninstall) from there.
I haven't tried it that way myself, but I'm sure someone will correct me if
I'm wrong.
Don't forget to change the Hide hidden folders back afterwards.
