I am runing Windows XP on a relatively new computer. For
several months, I have been getting the dreaded Blue
Screen of Death. After a lot of trial and error, I
concluded that it is related to the Internet -- whenever
the signal over my cable modem is lost, or even if it
flickers, I get an instant Blue Screen. I talked to my
cable company, and they said this is a well-known bug in
Windows XP -- they said that if you have installed any
softaware that is not specifically XP designed, it
creates a driver conflict that causes the computer to
crash if it loses contact with the Internet. Dell was
even less helpful -- they said I should keep wiping my
computer clean and keep trying that until the problem
stops. Can anyone help me? This is VERY frustrating.
Note: I have one gig of RAM, and I recently installed
service pack 1, which did not help.
