I have a Latitude D 600 laptop.
Sometimes when I close the laptop (while still having the
computer on) the screen goes into some sleep mode. When I
activate the screen again via any key, everything comes
back really dark I can barely see the applications. I have
to restart my computer to get rid of it. Does anyone know
why this happends and how to get rid of it.

By chance do you have power management settings setup so that when on
battery power the screen dims down to save power?

Also, laptops can be set to shutdown, hibernate, or stand-by when you
shut the lid. Yours is probably set to do something.

Check the power settings program in Control Panal. Also read the user
guide for your Dell Laptop. This is surely covered there.

If a flaw with your Dell, discuss this with Dell support.

This could be probably an early indication that the screen may be dying
soon.
