View Full Version : Windows Update - XP - "lost" user

January 4th 04, 02:57 PM
Help - I have Windows XP, with 2 users set up - this morning, with USER 1, I
allowed XP to run some automatic updates (KB824141, KB823182, KB825119 and
KB828035) - they were "successful".

Now when USER 2 logs in, the initial personalised icon is on the logon
screen (so it recognises the user), but when she gets to her session,
NOTHING of her personalised settings are there and it thinks she is a new
user. USER 1 is working as normal with no problems.

In Control Panel, when I go to User Accounts - USER 1 and USER 2 are both
listed (both administrator), in addition (which I've never seen before)
there is ASP.NET Machine A... (limited account, protected by password) and
Invited (Account disactivated)

Anyone able to offer any advice/information on what has happened and if
there is anything I can do to recover USER 2. Also, what are the other
accounts, can I/should I delete them?

Thanks
