Epson SLOW printing

My epson 980 printer very well under 98. my new fresh XP
install however prints vey slow. Tried ecp,epp
no difference. Tried XP drivers and Epson 1003, 1004 drivers

resident XP driver.

This happens with some Epson printers.
Uninstall everything.
Download the latest drivers.
Install the software with the printer powered OFF. DO NOT let XP detect it,
or it will install it's own drivers.
When your Epson install reaches the "checking connections" screen, then turn
the printer on and it will find the Epson drivers.
