I had actually got it to work with my router and multiple
firewalls but have to say that I'm really disappointed
with this version of messenger. The problem became
obvious after I used it several times. This so-called
upgrade actually took about 8+ seconds to open on my
desktop. Heck--my XP application loads a lot faster.
Well, I'm one step closer to restoring my computer back to
version 4.7 because it actually loads a lot quicker. I
also noticed that the webcam/audio response times have
slowed alittle as well (like in 6.0) Thank goodness for
restore points. This application brings back the old
memories of owning a computer with a 8088 processor. I
just don't know why I get suckered into these over-night
development projects that Microsoft calls upgrades.

Just a quick note on MSM 6--it has nice looking icons at
the top, but it too is much slower (even than Messenger
4.7 & 5). It has a much clearer picture but at what
expense? (maybe bandwidth). If your upload speeds are less
than 192kbps, I wouldn't even bother with this version. I
also don't know why you have to start the video and then
activate the audio.

Hi GlennR
I have not found a difference with.4.7 and 5.0 in running time
In MSN messenger there are to ways to do video,
Start Video this is supposed to make life easy for people who are behind
router,
that is not UPnP or use different OS than XP like win98 Start Video may be a
direct connection
or it may be by the sever if a direct connection can not be established =)
Start Video Conference is the old way and will give you sound as well as
video
In Msn messenger go to Actions start video conference
