In one of my partitions it is not responding due to a

Hi James,

www.grisoft.com
give an email addy...
they will send code for the freeware av6 (is ok).

Search Engine Keywords...
online anti virus scan

yielded...(bunch more...you can search)
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.freedom.net/onlineviruscheck/
http://www.antivirusscans.com/

Usually just clearing the virus should help.

This sounds like a boot sector virus. AVG from www.grisoft.com should be
able to fix it, as NT Canuck suggested.

If AVG finds no virus, then you may simply need to "fixboot" and
"fixmbr" using the Recovery Console (first repair option on the XP CD)
but post back and explain what you were doing that caused this.

If it is a boot sector virus, chances are you had an infected diskette
in the floppy drive when you booted or shutdown your computer. It
doesn't have to be a bootable floppy to infect your hard drive, it only
has to be present when the BIOS scans the drives to find bootable
drives. Many BIOS setups have a boot sector protection feature that can
avoid this problem.
