junk html applications on my desktop

Dear Friends

I keep on getting the IE icon with the words
`theBIGpayout', `Casino Blackjack', `Cheapest long
distance' `Investors Helpline' written on my desktop. I
delete them today - they are all back again tomorrow. -
all unsolicited advertising. How can I block these out?
