Each separate installation of Windows XP requires a new license.
You cannot use the same license (Product Key) to install XP on
another computer. Product Activation will fail if you do.

Is this a natural path, or do I need to wipe out Home and
install Pro clean?

No need to do a clean install, you can upgrade from Home to Pro no =

It's a supported upgrade, and the easiest and most often
successful one.

Greetings --

You can easily upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. Of course,
there are no iron-clad, 100% guarantees when it comes to updating any
kind of computer software, much less an operating system. WinXP is
designed to install and upgrade the existing operating system while
simultaneously preserving your applications and data and translating
as many personalized settings as possible. The process is designed to
be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things can go wrong,
in a small number of cases. If your data is at all important to you,
back it up before proceeding.
