Integrity of update.inf file?

I have encountered the same error multiple times when
trying to Update windows. I thought I could bypass the
problem by ordering and paying for the SP cd. However,
much to my disgust, I am getting the same error. My tech
support at HP ran out of ideas. Does anybody have any
suggestions how to bypass this error?
