Hi, first let me say that I am not a computer genius so
please bear with me for what is probably a very general,
common sense type question. We have just installed
Windows XP - completely different from the Windows 98 I
have come to love!! We also just installed a new hard
drive if that matters. My windows screen area is smaller
than my actual screen. I have a black border around it of
unused space. Where do I go to make it fit my screen??
Thank you so very much.

I believe those settings are adjusted at the monitor itself.

You might have to locate a newer driver for your display adapter. However,
try this first: Right click on the desktop and choose Properties. From the
Display window, choose Settings tab. Change the screen resolution.

Laura,
Most all monitors have an adjustment for the screen size, both horizontal
and vertical. Read the instruction manual or visit the mfg's web site for
instructions. You may also look for a new driver while at their site, which
may or may not correct the problem.

Depends on the system you have. First, try putting the mouse curser on the
edge of the window and see if you can drag the window larger. Second, are
there controls on the monitor that allow you to stretch the image? Do you
have the correct driver for the display? If you go to control
panel ---display---settings, what pixel setting are you on?
