We ave a piece of software for sending and receiving exam results (high
school).
We run XP pro and NT4 server.
Problem: The Domain has a policy of change passwords every 42 days. When the
user changes his password he gets cryptography errors when trying to send
and receive.
I'm assuming that by changing the password his SID gets changed and the
local machine (XP) where the keys are stored now see him as a different
user.So the keys need to be deleted and reset with the server at the other
end.

Is the assumption correct?
What (if anything) can I do? (Preferably without having to change the
password policy)

Changing a users password does not alter the user account SID.
Have you tried the company that manufacturer the product for support ? and
also to see if there product is compatible with Windows XP.
