After logging off, and receiving the msg. OK TO TURN OFF
YOUR COMPUTER; computer will not turn off. Must pull the
plug at wall socket. What's going on??
UP grated to XP & loaded all updates from MS. Now my
Norton Anti-virus software won't work. Did the uninstall
procedure and reloaded, now I'm viewed as a new customer
and lost my subscription protection service. Any ideas.

Once you have that message, Windows is shut down, and it is up to you to
remove power. If the hardware does not then respond to the power
button, do it at the wall.
If you feel it should turn off *without* that message, A probable cause
is that your installation found the BIOS does not adequately support the
'Advanced Configuration & Power Interface' (ACPI). It then installs the
older APM, but leaves it disabled. Go to Control Panel - Power Options,
and if there is an APM page, check 'Enable APM' on it.
