i want to use plain text passwords to join an NT domain because i'm having
trouble authenticating with a samba server and i want to eliminate the
encryption as the source of the problem. i set the registry value
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\lanmanworkstation\param
eters\enableplaintextpassword to 1 and this allowed me to see shares on the
controller using a plain text password. however, when i try to join the
domain, the samba server goes to the encrypted database to look up the
password. is there another setting that i need to change?
