I had posted my problem on numerous occasions without
receiving a satisfactory explanation. The problem is
solved.

Upon bootup the taskbar would come up and there would be
variable delays (sometimes minutes) before it would be
populated with it's icons.

I had a 2nd hard drive in my computer which was failing.
When it finally failed, I removed it. Performance was
much better. I then used OptimizerXP, but I'm sure many
similar programs would work. My computer is now perfect
again.

I hope that some of you gurus out there will add this to
your data base so that others with this problem can be
helped.

Had you tried Bootvis first?

And/or go to Start/Run and paste this line in:
rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks
