i cannot encrypt a file when i right click the file, then
i click advanced, the option of clicking the file is not
an option, it is whited out
if someone could help me with this matter, it would be
greatly apprieciated

EFS encryption is only available on XP Pro when using=20
NTFS formatted drive space.

Andrew;
You must have Windows XP Pro, Home does not have EFS.
You must be NTFS.
EFS is very good at what it does and there is no back door.
Read and understand these links before using EFS to keep from
permanently losing your data:
