View Full Version : Accessing Files on Multiple Installations of XP

Hi all,
I'm trying to finish rebuilding an XP system on a new hard drive (G: clean
install). The old XP installation (C: an upgrade on top of Windows 2000) is
still intact on another drive, and I can boot to either.
The problem I'm having is copying all of the files from the my documents in
C: to the my documents in G: It's denying access even when trying from safe
mode while logged in as administrator from either install. For example, if
I'm logged in under the C: installation I can't access G:\Documents and
Settings\username\username's My Documents, and vice verse. I read the EFS
documentation, but when I select the Advaced settings under properties, File
encryption is not checked.
Any advice on how I can get this straightened out would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Patrick

They never knew.
Well, maybe they do now.

If you do not have major hardware changes on the original
install in the next 60 days there should be no issue. If there
is you can just call the number that will be offered at that
time and tell them the other install was destroyed.
