Jeff,

There are several ways to do this using AD policies and an
update share, but the quick and dirty desktop way is to
right-click on My Computer, go to Properties/ Automatic
Updates, then check "Keep my computer up to date", and
choose the last radio button that automatically downloads
and installs at whatever time of day you wish. If the
logged in user does not have admin rights, the computer
will automatically reboot after about 10 minutes of no
activity and no response to a warning.

This can be problematic if there's a bug in the update
from MS, but not terrible if you have local access to
those machines. It's a bit riskier if you are supporting
multiple schools in a diverse geography. I've been doing
this for about two years with no adverse effects, but
others have reported problems. I think it's easier if you
are running standard hardware (e.g., Dell's or IBM's) and
MS applications.
