View Full Version : ASP.NET Machine A... and Automatic Logon problems

I just (re-)intalled Windows XP Home Edition. Since it
was an Dell OEM version, my initial account name
is "Owner".
Yesterday, I changed to account name, then changed it
back. (I mention this because I figure that it may be
significant.)
Anyway, now my computer no longer logs me on
automatically when I boot up, and I get taken back to
the "Welcome" screen when I exit the screensaver.
I suspect that this may be because there is now another
account on the computer named "ASP.NET Machine A...". It
is a password-protected limited access account.
I did not create this account, and it does not show up on
the "Welcome" screen.
I really want to be able to have my computer log me on
automatically or at least to know what this "ASP.NET
Machine A..." thing is all about and why it doesn't
appear on the "Welcome" screen.
Thanks in advance.

Go Start|Run type in "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) and hit
Enter. Highlight your User name in the list and uncheck the box which states
"Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Now your
computer should boot straight into Windows as it did before this update :-)

The Asp.Net account can result from installation=20
of the .Net Framework. However, I am surprised=20
at its presence since you say you have Home which=20
does not support IIS.
