My Windows XP Professional installed the latest security
update- 811493. Afterwards, when it had to restart, my
laptop literally took five solid minutes to reach
the "welcome" screen. I shut it down afterwards and
turned it back on an hour later- and had to wait over
another five minutes for the "welcome" screen again.
I went into Add/Remove programs, and removed the security
update. After a restart, my computer came up as normal
(within seconds). Has this happened to anyone else? I
have not installed any other programs today, nor have
made any changes to my laptop in over a month. This is
the only thing that changed- and it was fixed immediately
after the uninstall. Is there possibly something wrong
with the security update?
