Windows-XP Professional - Password for user account expired
- can't log on to computer. Do I need to re-install XP?

You should be able to log on as "administrator" and reset the password.
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the login screen to take you to a different kind
of login dialogue where you can type in username instead of selecting from a
list... type in administrator for the username and the password would be
whatever was set as your administrator password during install. If the
machine was a "pre-install" new computer try leaving the password blank.

Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.
