I ran all of the security update from Microsoft Windows Update on some of my
WinXP Pro workstations. Now all of the shortcuts to serverbased application
calling a .exe or .com are prompting the user to download the .exe. When you
click on the file download warning the application runs. Any one know of a
way to turn this off?

TIA for any help.

Bill

Go to Start/Run, and type:

REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL

Then open IE, Tools menu, Options, Program Tab, and click the "Reset Web
Settings" button
