I reinstalled XP after a power surge. I can see all of
my files (in PP, Word, Excel, etc) but I can't access
them because I don't have those applications installed.
How do I install them? Are they somewhere on my XP disc?
Thanx,
Sarabell

Hi,
Office applications are not a part of Windows XP. They
have to be purchased seperately.

Look for your Office CD to reinstall. If you upgraded to XP and Office was
part of the original software bundle, you may need to restore to the
original shipped state and then upgrade to XP. Consult the documentation
that came with your computer. XP is a operating system and only has basic
word processing and office application. Applications like PP, Word, etc.
come in Office suites or stand alone applications. If you need an
alterative, you can download open office.

Are you asking whether they are somewhere on your Windows XP
disk? No, they aren't. These are application programs and have
never been part of any operating system.
You need to install them the same way they were installed before,
presumably from a Microsoft Office CD.

Greetings --
You'll have to reinstall any applications from their original
media, after having reinstalled the OS. Use the Office CD to install
Office, etc.
Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.
