No problems with the updates on any of my 3 XP systems. I DON'T run AV
full time and keep them updated, which, judging from other sites I've
seen this on subject, seems to be the culprit.

One of the major culprits seems to be use of a restore point
that has reverted a system to a point before the updates but
not all the info about the updates being needed got reverted.
