Marilyn,

Try removing all the icons in the lower right corner of the taskbar.
They are probably stcked two or three high right now. Just right
click on them one by one, click on exit, close or whatever you have to
and get them out of there temporarily. To get rid of the clock if it
is displayed in the lower right hand corner unclick "Display the
Clock" in the Taskbar and Menu Startup Properties. That can be
accessed by right clicking on the taskbar.

Once I got that stuff all cleared out of the lower right corner the
taskbar retreated to the normal thickness. I then restarted the
machine and all of the normal stuff in the right corner reappeared on
one line, except the time was not displayed at all. To get the time
back I re-clicked on the "Display the Clock" box in the Taskbar and
Menu Startup Properties.

Hope this works for you. It definitely worked for me.
