I have had problems with Hp Pavilion 8776C AMD Athlon
~1000Mhz,MMX 3D Now, 128 Mb Ram, Pioneer Dvd-115. Green
light on Dvd flickers, then nothing both in XP and ME.
My solution is to mount Dvd's in sequence. One Dvd that
always works is Dune, a 4.5 gig Dvd with no auto start.
The other Dvds, James Bond, Lord of the rings, A Beautiful
Mind etc. all are more condense, have maybe 7 gigs and
also contain software for Inter Actual which wants to
install when the device is recognized. My decoder is Inter
Video's Windvd which came with the box.
To summarize my solution; if I want to watch The
Fellowship of the Rings, I first have to insert Dune which
brings up Windvd player, eject, then insert A Beautiful
Mind, cancel install of inter actual, eject, then insert
The Fellowship, cancel Inter actual and finally play it
with Windvd. For you it may be different depending on
which Dvd's you have. If I lose Dune, I'm in trouble.
Hopefully next computer will work better than this. What
is strange is that The Fellowship was the first Dvd this
computer ever saw and it worked then but I've had the same
problem despite many reinstallations of Windows ME and XP

If you or anyone finds a real solution to this absurd
situation please post it here.
