logging into windows XP home edition

When I first log into my account on windows XP, I will get
a message that windows cannot find 'copy'. I will click
the close button on the message box and the computer will
work perfectly. I have discussed this with my son who has
his own computer and lives 200 miles away and he told me
he has the same error message about once every 4 or 5 time
he logs on. Has anyone else encountered this problem? If
so is there a solution? If you have any information that
may help, please email me at home, as I may not find this
web site again.

This is likely an infection of Trojan.Winshow, discussed in numerous
articles in these forums. Removal procedure is manual:

1. Open Regedit.

2. Do a find for "winshow". Delete each key found, and continue
searching by hitting F3 until no keys (usually about 10) are found.

3. Repeat step 2, searching for "winlink".

4. Close regedit.

5. Search your entire hard drive for files "winlink.dll" and
"winshow.dll". Be sure to specify all folders, including hidden and
system folders. Delete each file found.

6. Restart the computer.
