Frozen Defrag

It has been going on for some time now. I loaded
diskeeper on the system, about three months down the road
it freezes. So I removed it from the system. Now I
cannot get the original defrag to compleet the task, it
gets to about 40% completion and freezes. A friend tole me
to fo to task manager and stop all applications but I get
a scary warning. Can anyone help me get defrag started
again?

Try to defrag in safe mode.

Have you tried running CHKDSK on the volume that won't defrag? Since
you've seen the problem with two differrent defraggers, I'd suspect
that something is amiss on your disk drive. CHKDSK will possibly help.
