I'm trying to use MS Paint to make a color-coded map. I've used it
before for assorted things and never encountered this problem. What's
wrong is that when I select a color, the color I pick isn't what shows
up on the image. Several colors when I apply them to my image come up
as the same shade of dark grey. Other colors show up as something
else. Only black and white are totally unaffected. I have heard from
one person who said that he had the same problem and it went away when
he switched from working in GIF to JPG. That did nothing for me. The
original image I downloaded from the web was a GIF... is that
connected? What can I do to make the color I want be the color I get?
