View Full Version : How do I set up more than one network connection in control palen ?

XP/pro...
Until today I could leave my XP/pro laptop set to DHCP addressing.
As of today I'm spending time at a site that has specific static IP
addresses and I've been assigned one. I figured it would be easy
to either copy the icon, rename it, hack the properties and click on
it, or something like that.
It won't let me do anything reasonable.
What's the hot tip for people that need multiple profiles ?
Thanks

Right click My Network Places and select Properties. Right click the
Network connection in question and select Properties. Locate the entry for
TCP/IP and click Properties. You'll see an Alternate Configuration tab.

>I find that the easiest way is to addin the connect at
the control panel - User account; you can then use the
basic login which ever network you connect.
XP appears to be real pain when running on multi networks,
the information that MS supply is poor and doesnt fit in
with the real world. You will find that sometimes XP
will need to be connected for sometime before it comes
alive, this appears to be especially true if connecting to
NT4 SBS. I try to plan on plugging in in the morning to
work in the afternoon, bring back paper and pencil
