I have Windows XP and I have just formatted my second drive by accident!!!
I need to get my files back.
what program is out there that I can use to get them back or does XP have
such a program that I do not yet know of that is already on the system?
thanks in advance

I seem to recall a warning msg given when Formating,
something along the lines of 'Warning all data will be lost'
Having said that your only option would be to give the HD to a data recovery
specialist on 'no recovery no fee basis'

yes is did say something like that!!!
i plugged in a friends hard drive to format it and forgot to UNPLUG (MY)
other hard drive before doing a format on his drive, as it said do you wish
to format the MAXTOR DRIVE i said yes cos it was this type of drive......
guess what..... so is my other hard drive!!! DOH
as for it depends... i have not done anything to the drive as yet. still
trying to get stuff off it with some program i got and bought called
RESTORER 2000 PRO, well it does not seem to be doing what i thought it
would, unformat. this is what i really need an unformat program.
any ideas where i get one from.

Do a Google for "unformat" , "format recovery" and "disk
recovery" and you should get some answers or directions.
Don't use the disk in any way until you run a recovery
program.

Luckily, a format doesn't erase any data.

Lanwench suggested Ontrack's Easy Recovery Pro, which I use and it has
worked well for me. The other alternative is to contact Drive Savers
(www.drivesavers.com), a professional data recovery firm highly
regarded in the tech industry. They are not inexpensive, and only you
can decide how much your data is worth spending.
