Any way to track this if it reappears on the net?

If the thief attempts to sell on Ebay or similar and you recognize it,
you may be able to get it back that way.

If you are meaning tracking the OS through registration/activation, no
chance.
If it were possible the privacy groups would be all over Microsoft for
their ability to closely monitor the computer.

Contact law enforcement and your insurance carrier.

If it is even possible, you would probably need more resources and
legal paperwork than a $10,000 laptop is worth.
