The April above mentioned security patch returns the
following error message:
C:\DOCUME~1\bunyon\LOCALS~1\TEMPOR~1\Content.IE5\G HCXAF01
\UPDATE~1.COM
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS:0538 IP:ffe2 OP:fe ff 1e 09 e9 Choose 'Close' to
terminate the application.
I can choose close or ignore, what exactly is going on
and should I choose ignore and install this file??

I'm not sure how you came by this patch but given the title you quoted and
the location on your HD from which it ran, I'd suspect that you're actually
running the Gibe worm, not a real update.

Take a look at these links about the worm:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=319652

http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/gibe_b.shtml

And a generic response from MS about spoofed messages:

Hope this helps,
