Two things I would try: first, go to Control Panel, click the Network
and Internet Connections category, then Internet Options. On the
Programs tab, clear the checkbox for "Internet Explorer should check" if
it is the default browser (you can also get to Internet Options by right
clicking the blue E on the Start Menu and selecting Internet
Properties). Start then close IE. Go back to Internet Options and
check the box. Start IE and make it default if it asks.

If this doesn't solve the problem, do a repair install of IE. This can
be very difficult if you have Windows XP, since IE 6 cannot be
uninstalled or repaired in the normal way. I hope there is a simpler
solution. Maybe someone will post a link to it.
