View Full Version : regwiz problem

When I bought my PC, they put on a pirated version of XP
so the updates to install have been driving me crazy.
Meanwhile, my friend upgraded and got XP, which she
didn't like, so she took it off her machine and put
Windows 98 back on. She has given me her XP license since
she paid for it, but when I run regwiz /r to register the
license, nothing happens.

Do I download RegWiz and install it? If so, to where? And
there is something about needing a path to a program
called reg32 I can download from MicroSoft ... I am not
sure what to do here.

Can anyone out there please help?

Sylvia

To make an illegal install legal you need to go through=20
an upgrade installation. Boot from the CD, do not say=20
you are repairing, but installing and when it detects the=20
existing install and offers to upgrade it, say OK.
