My computer's motherboard fried itself 2 days ago and I
am going to replace the entire computer. Since I already
have a copy of Windows XP Home and Windows XP Office, can
I just install them on the new computer since the old one
is dead and gone? I remember having to do some kind of
activation in the past, do I do that again and will it
let me activate them on a new computer? I can't seem to
find any info or directions on if this is allowed but
seems since I bought both of these programs, I could
continue to use them. Thanks in advance for any help.

Of course you can. Shouldn't be a problem, since it sounds as if it's been a
while since the original install. If it has been over 120 days, the automatic
activation over the internet should work fine. Worst case you may have to call
an 800 number and explain that your old PC is now a boat anchor.
