cant install = most installers freeze

i cant seem to install anything.. most of my software
messes up when i try to install..either that or they take
an excessively long time to install.. i have another 30gb
of free space and i just defragmented.. i dont know why
this is happening.. sometimes the installers work but take
forever to do it when it used to take only seconds.. or it
just doesnt do anything..thanks

Could be 100 things. On the other hand, just today I fixed that exact
same problem on my sons PC by removing 250 spyware items using spybot.

I also first deleted over 4000 temp files and 8 gig of internet cache
files.
