1. windows decided to stop functioning
2. i hard (re-)booted the system
3. in doing so, my system somehow lost or corrupted (?)
my personal settings
4. when attempting to restore the system to a prior
restore date, clicking "next" produces nothing
5. i have tried selecting different dates and events to
restore, but am still unsuccessful
6. i am without an answer on this one (not to mention no
access to any of my files or settings)
7. HELP!!!

Scott;
Try this to repair System Restore:
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes all Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore.

Do you mean you have a corrupted profile:

Otherwise a Repair Installation may be necessary:

Windows Updates and Service Pack will need to be reloaded.
