I need to delete an Index.dat file!?!?!?

My Cleansweep Program in Norton System Works will not
delete 2 files in Internet History - I have gone to the
Symantec site and they have said that it is most likely
caused by a corrupt index.dat file in Internet Explorer.
I am supposed to delete it, but I CAN'T find it! I
wonder - can I just toast Internet Explorer and reinstall
it?
