I get this kind of an application error when starting up
Win XP:
"Log On to Windows: winlogon.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x759723ee" referenced memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"
Clicking OK causes computer to restart and problem occurs
again; clicking cancel makes computer to process for a
several minutes and then freezes on the "starting up..."
window.
I have tried to expand the winlogon.exe from the
installation cd with the recovery console, but it didn't
work. And actually it seem that the problem is not in the
winlogon.exe as you can see from the error message.
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem?
Thanks!

If you have installed any third-party software that allows=20
for login or may have hooked into the login process with=20
an authentication handler, for example PCanywhere or=20
VNC or ... you could try a safe mode boot and if you=20
can get in use this to disable the services these will try=20
to start up. If you have never successfully logged in=20
after installing such software, then trying to revert to=20
the Last Known Good might be useful.

Thanks for your reply Roger.
I haven't installed anything new in a couple of weeks.
I tried safe mode, but WinXP still gave same application
error. Seems like the only choice is to install OS again
or using repair installation.
Is it possible to save registery before that?
