Downloading Games

Iam new to PC use and the problem I am having is when I
download a game or anything else for that matter, the
Program asks you to "Exit all Windows Programs before
running this Setup Program".

Can somebody tell me how to do this please. My OS is XP
Pro.

Most programs say to do this, all you should really do is close out
programs like outlook and internet explorer. If the program really needs
something closed out it will tell you to close the specific thing. I
never close out anything when I install a problem unless I have a
problem when installing the piece of software.
