I`m running xp home addition on 2 e-machine computers on
a network with adsl, and have had to restore both several
times due to live hackers and Gator taking over my
systems, Security policies are being rewritten all the
time,. My printer is almost useless. I am now running
pccillin and zone alarm, turn computers off when not in
use, it seems to help a little, but I`m guessing inside
of a week I`ll be digging out the restore disks.
I have documented some of the activities, some of which
are the installation of "ABBY FINE READER",CHANGING OF
SECURITY POLICIES, CHANGING VIDEO CODECS TO AUDIO CODECS,
AND INSTALLATION AND USE OF FAX SERVICES... I have
printed Gator logs of it`s activities, have had people
shadowing all my security measures and changing passwords.
I also have had an i-mac on the network, hackers locked
me out totally and had the i-mac setup as a server.
Ocassionally you can faintly hear audio conversations on
the system speakers.
I have managed to trace some of these things directly
back to the day the factory software was loaded on the
machine.
Normally I would just throwa product like this in the
trash and move on, but my curiosity has taken over.
Does anyone have similar problems, and please explain to
me why there are always 30 or more running processes in
Task mgr.
If interested I`d be glad to share some info Gator
didn`t want me to see
