My Internet connection is through a dialup service similar
to AOL, according to my service provider (PeoplePC). But
every time I dial up the firewall is disabled. How can I
trick Windows to set the firewall to stay on as if I were
connected directly to the Internet? Or should I forget
the windows firewall and install Zone Alarm?

Thanks in advance.

Mark,

I would recommend using ZoneAlarm over the WinXP firewall.

ZoneAlarm monitors both inbound and outbound traffic, while WinXP firewall
only monitors the inbound traffic.

There's no "trick" to it. Once enabled, the firewall should stay
on, provided your not using an incompatible 3rd-party connection
applet, like the one AOL forces upon its customers.
