The following update causes the system as a whole to slow
to a snails pace. There appears to be a conflict with my
McAfee anti-virus version 6.0. The anti-virus has had
all available ugrades and patches so it is current. With
it on my system is slow, nearly unresponsive at times.
However, if I turn off the protection the system returns
to normal and operates as expected. Please advise of any
fixes.

See the link below.

Microsoft know it's a real problem and are looking into fixing the fix. In
the meantime, read the technical section of the link below and decide for
yourself if "working around" the security hole the patch fixes is a bigger
problem for you than the slowdown currently is. If you can live without the
patch then remove it - I've done so.

Richard, I heard this problem mentioned on The Screen Savers last night. I
surfed the TSS website this morning and they say that Microsoft
suggests - first - uninstalling the patch - second - disabling your
antivirus/autoprotect software - third - re-installing the patch then
re-enabling your antivirus/autoprotect software. Of course, this is
complete hearsay so I don't know if it really works. It's also
possible that we may see an update to the patch coming from Microsoft
soon - purely speculative. Best of luck.
